Deuteronomy Chapter 14

Omniscient – You know everything.  You know why You have Israel do and not do all of these things.  You know I do not understand.  You know what You mean.  You know the pat and the future.  You know me.  You know my heart and my mind.  You are all-knowing.

Omnipotent- You can do anything.  You lead Your people.  You teach them and guide them.  You make them stand on higher ground.  You cause Your people to grow.  I am growing.  It is not painful or dreaded as it once was.  I feel great.  Thank You My LORD.  You are God.  You make me understand if You just wanted to.  You are all-powerful.

Omnipresent – You are everywhere.  You are on all the face of the earth.  You are at that place where You choose to establish You name.  You are in the heavens.  You are in Your WORD.  You are here with me. You are in my heart.  You are all-present.

Eternal – You are the cause of time.  You are every year.  You are at the end of the third year, in that year.  You are now and forever and ever.  You are time.

Immutable – You do not change.  I may give anything, which dies of itself to the alien who is in my town, so that he may eat it, or I may sell it to a foreigner, for I am a holy people to You my God.  You will never be made to change.

Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself.  You will exist even when Your creation does not.  You choose Your people.  You decide what is clean and what is unclean.  You make up Your commandments’ existence.  You make up Your tithes’ existence.  You decide who lives and who dies.  It is Your creation who needs You in order to exist.

Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose.  You choose to use Israel and Your commandments and what is clean and unclean and tithes and me because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.

Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion.  There is no limit to always.  You do not have any limits to time, place, or the universe.  You are limitless.

Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation.  You teach me about You.  You teach me that You have Your own possession among all the peoples.  You teach me not to eat any detestable thing.  You teach me what I can and cannot eat of the animals and all that are in the water and birds and not to eat any which dies of itself.  You teach me about tithes and at the end of every third year to bring out all the tithe of the produce.  You My God may bless me in all the work of my hand, which I do.

Sovereign – It is You Israel worships.  It is You I worship.  You choose me to be a holy people to You, for Your own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.  You make all creatures.  You decide what is clean and what is unclean.  You decide what is unclean for me.  You make the tithe.  You choose the place where You choose to set Your name.  You bless who You want to.  You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!

Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being.  You separate Your chosen people for Your purpose.  You separate me by Your truth through Your Son for Your purpose.

Gracious – You show Your favor to Your people by making them a holy people to You.  You have chosen me to be a people for Your own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Merciful – You show Your compassion t Your people by not having them eat any detestable thing.  You tell them what is clean to eat and what is unclean.  You let Your people exchange the tithe for money, and bind the money in their hand and go to the place which You choose.  Money is much easier to carry.

Righteous – You are always right.  You teach me the right way.  Eating things clean and bringing the tithe are Your way.

Longsuffering - You are patient with Your people and slow to anger.

Just – You punish the unrighteous who do not listen to You, You atone for sin, and reward the righteous who fear You and listen to You.

Loving – You love Your people.  You take care of them and give them what they need.

Good – You give me a part of Yourself.  You give me Your commandments and teach me and bless me in all the work of my hand which I do.

Wise – Your wisdom causes You to do the things You do to teach me about Yourself and to give me knowledge and understanding.  Your wisdom is higher than my wisdom.  Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts.

Truthful - You always speak the truth.  Everything You say is reality.  Your Word is everything You have said.  Even if Moses said it or Your Word said it they are all Your Words, Your wisdom, Your love, Your commandments.

Faithful – You always do what You promise.  You make Your people a holy people to You and teach them to fear You always just as You have promised.  You are their God and they are Your people.

Wrathful - You destroy all unrighteousness.  You destroy all who are not holy to You or who touches anything unclean and who do not take care of the Levite or the alien, the orphan, or the widow.

Jealous – You will not share Your people, Your possession, who are rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.

Incomprehensible – You are Transcendent because You teach me about Yourself.  Am I one of Your sons?  A daughter isn’t of my own creation.  Am I a holy person to You My God?  Hove Yu chosen me to be a person for Your own possession?  ME?  Out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth?  ME – who can’t do anything right?

What does it mean to not eat any detestable thing?  What is detestable?  Why do You tell Peter “What God ahs cleansed, no long consider unholy”?  This chapter must mean more than what I can and cannot eat.  What is clean and unclean My LORD?  Why don’t You just tell me?  You gave Israel a list and food for thought.  What is detestable?  What does this mean?

·      Detestable – (abominable) Job 15:16; Is 66:17; Jer 16:18; Ezek 11:18; Luke 16:15; Ezek 37:23; 5:11; 7:20

·      Luke 16:15 – “And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of me, but God know your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.”

·      And I shall eat in the presence of the LORD My God at the place where You choose to establish Your name, the tithe of my grain, my new wine, my oil, and the first-born of my heard and my flock, in order that I may learn to fear You always?  What does this mean?  How do I do that?  How do I lean to fear You My God?

·      What does verse 26 mean?  ‘And you may spend the money for whatever your heart desires’?  Isn’t that a bad thing?  Isn’t my heart’s desire a bad thing?  Isn’t mine, or strong drink, or whatever my heart’s desires wrong?

·      Where do I take my tithes?  What am I supposed to do?  How does this relate to me?  What shall I do that I may learn to fear You My God always and that You My God may bless me in all the work of my hand, which I do?  What shall I do for You My God?
