Deuteronomy Chapter 19

Omniscient – You know everything.  You know the manslayer and the murderer.  You know Your cities of refuge.  You know each boundary mark.  You know the malicious witness and the false witness.  You know evil.  You know me.  You know my heart and my mind.  You know the past and the future.  You are all-knowing.

Omnipotent- You can do anything.  You can cut off nations.  You give land to who You want to.  You can make me understand if You just wanted to.  You can put it into my heart.  You make me understand if You just wanted to.  You are all-powerful.

Omnipresent – You are everywhere.  You are in the land.  You are in Your heavens and in Your Word.  You are here with me. You are in my heart and in my mind.  You are all-present.

Eternal – You are the cause of time.  You are in those days and today.  You are the past and the future.  You are forever and ever.  You are time.

Immutable – You do not change.  Any manslayer may flee there to the cities of refuge, when he strikes his friend so that he dies – he may flee to one of these cities and live.  Innocent blood will not be shed in Israel’s land.  You will never be made to change.

Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion.  You are forever and always.  You are limitless.

Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation.  You teach me about Yourself.  You teach me to separate cities as cites of refuge for the manslayer to flee there and live.  You teach me about the manslayer and about the murderer.  You teach me not to move my neighbor’s boundary mark.  You teach me that a single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed.  I shall purge the evil from among me.  I shall not show pity.  You teach me You are longsuffering.  You have mercy on Your people and take care of them.  You are patient and slow to anger.  You teach me about Yourself and Your heavenly throne.  Thank You My LORD.

Sovereign – You cut off the nations.  You are Jehovah My God.  You make the manslayer AND the murder.  You set the boundary mark in the land You My God gave Israel to possess.  You make a witness or two or three witnesses.  You make the malicious witness and the false witness.  You use the priests’ and the judges.  You purge the evil,  You know the evil.  You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!

Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being.  You separate the good and the evil for Your purpose.  You separate Your people for Your purpose.  You separate me by Your truth through Your Son for Your purpose.

Gracious – You show Your people Your favor by giving them land to possess.  You give them Your commandments.  You lead them.  You have given me Your Word to learn about You and Your foreknown plan.

Merciful – You show Your people Your compassion by giving them the cities of refuge for the manslayer to flee to.  If a malicious witness rises up against a man to accuse him of wrongdoing, then both the men who have the dispute shall stand before You.  You will take care of the innocent.

Righteous – You are always right.  You teach me Your right way.  The cities of refuge and a life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot is Your way.

Longsuffering - You are patient with Your people and slow to anger.  Humans cause many unintentional accidents and treat each other very badly.  You are there to protect the innocent and those who love You.  Innocent blood will not be shed in the midst of Israel’s land.  You will teach them.

Just – You punish the guilty who murders and is a malicious witness, atone for sin so that innocent blood is not shed, and You reward the righteous who carefully observe all this commandment.

Loving – You love Your people and You take care of them.  You give them everything they need even if they don’t know that they need it.

Good – You give Your people Your commandments to be Your People.  You give a part of Yourself in order for me to know You.

Wise – You will cut off the nations.  You will purge purge the blood of the innocent from Israel.  You will purge the evil from among them.  Israel will not show pity:  life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.  Your wisdom is higher than my wisdom.  Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts.

Truthful - You always speak the truth.  You have Moses repeat everything You have said.  Your commandments are reality.  Your Word is reality.

Faithful – You always do what You promise.  You are Israel’s God and You make them Your people.  You bring them to a higher station.  Faith is not knowing that You can do what You say, but that You will do what You say.

Wrathful - You will destroy all unrighteousness.  You will purge the evil from among Israel.

Jealous – You will not share Your people or me who are rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.

Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself.  You will exist even when Your creation does not.  You choose.  You decide.  You make up Your Word’s existence.  You make up Moses’ existence.  You make up evil’s existence.  You make up my existence.  You decide who lives and who dies.  It is Your creation who needs You in order to exist.

Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose.  You choose to use Your WORD and Moses and evil and the manslayer and the murderer and the witness and the malicious witness and boundary marks and priests and judges because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.

Incomprehensible – Why do accidents occur?  Why do You let accidents occur?  Why is there an avenger of blood?  Who is the avenger of blood?  Isn’t he a murderer?  Isn’t it just as wrong for the avenger of blood to kill?  Is it a murderer killing a murderer?  What does carefully observing all this commandment, to love You and to walk in Your ways always have to do with the cities of refuge?

Why is blood guiltiness important?  You know the manslayer did not mean to.  You know the murderer.  How do I not pity a murderer?  How do I purge the blood of the innocent of Israel?  How do I purge the evil from among me?  How will doing to the man who accused his brother falsely what he intended to do to the innocent to him make the rest hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing?  It is worse now than back then.  How do I hear and be afraid and not be a false witness?  How do I change my heart?  How do Is top my mouth from speaking?

How do I open my heart?  How do I change my heart?  How do I put it into my mind?  How do I not be evil?  How do I not think evil thoughts all of the time?  How do I be more like You and be longsuffering and loving and good and kind and wise?  How do I be truthful and faithful?  How do I learn more about You without being so fainthearted?  I Love You My LORD and I want to understand You.
