Deuteronomy Chapter 4

Deuteronomy Chapter 4

Omniscient – What is wrong with me?  You must know how paralyzed I am.  I can’t think.  I don’t understand.  You know what Moses is doing.  You taught him, now he is teaching everyone else.  Jesus is a teacher, teaching me about You.  You know You already have them written down.  You know each verse is written in several other verses over and over again.  You know I feel like I take one step forward and two steps backward.  You what You are doing.  You know me.  You know my heart.  You know my mind.  You are all-knowing.

Omnipotent- You can do anything.  You can make me know and understand if You just wanted to.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.  You have Moses teach Israel while You wait for them.  You patiently and very quietly wait for me.  You lead me to You.  You are all-powerful.

Omnipresent – You are everywhere.  You are at Horeb.  You are on the earth, in the sky, on the ground, and below the earth and to heaven. You are across the Jordan, in the valley opposite Beth-peor.  You are at Heshbon and from Egypt and Aroer.  You are in the valley of Arnon, even as far as Mount Sinai, with all the Arabah across the Jordan to the east, even as far as the sea of the Arabah at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah.  You are here. You are in my heart.  You are in Your WORD.  You are all-present.

Eternal – You are the cause of time.  You are today.  You are all the days of my life.  You are in the latter days.  You are in the former days.  You are for all time.  You are time.

Immutable – You do not change.  KEEP and do Your statutes and judgments, for that is my wisdom and my understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear.  For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is Jehovah my God whenever I call on Him?  I may learn to fear You all the days I live on the earth, and that I may teach my children.  You declared to me Your covenant which You commanded me to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments.  Watch myself carefully, since I did not see any form.  Watch myself, lest I forget the covenant of You my God  When I do that which is evil in the sight of You my God so as to provoke You to anger, I will die.  I shall keep Your statutes and Your commandments which Your word is giving me today.  It is the same with Your angels as with Israel and as with me now.  You will never be made to change.

Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself.  You will exist even when I do not.  It is You Your creation needs in order to exist.  You choose.  You decide.  You choose descendents and You decide who lives and who dies.  You make up my existence.

Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose.  You choose to use  Moses and Israel and Your statutes and judgments and Your WORD and me because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.

Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion.  You are forever and ever, indefinitely.  You do what You want.  You are limitless.

Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation.  You teach Moses to teach the sons of Israel the statutes and judgments for them to perform for You.  Concerning everything You have said I should be on my guard, and remember all of the commandments of You.  I serve gods, the work of man’s hands, wood and stone and each other.  But I seek You Jehovah My God.  I seek You with all of my heart and all my soul.  To me it is being shown that I might know that You, You are God; there is no other besides You.  Three cities were set apart that a manslayer might flee there.  This is the law that Moses set before the sons of Israel and Jesus is setting before me.  What does this teach me about You?  How does it relate to me?  What does this teach me about You?  How does it relate to me?  What do I need to do?  What do I need to know?

Sovereign – It is You the sons of Israel worship.  It is You I worship.  You are teaching me.  You are helping me to grow.  What are You doing?  What is Your purpose?  You are a consuming fire.  It is You who leads me.  It is You who will destroy me.  You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!

Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being.  You separate the sons of Israel for Your purpose.  You separate me by Your truth through You son for Your purpose.

Gracious – You show Your favor by giving Your statutes and judgments which Your Word is teaching me to perform.

Merciful – You show Your compassion through the wilderness as You lead them to Your land.  You show them Your power, and they live.

Longsuffering - You are patient with Your people and slow to anger.  They did not understand the first time, so You gave them time and the journey to fully understand and to know You.

Just – You punish the guilty, atone for sin, and reward the righteous.  You reward those who follow You.

Loving – You love Your people.  You take care of them and give them what they need.

Good – You give them statutes and judgments Your Word teaches me to perform.  You are teaching me to keep them and do them, for that is Your wisdom my LORD and Your understanding in the sight of the peoples who hear all these statutes.

Wise – Your wisdom causes You to do the things You do.  Your wisdom is higher than my wisdom.  Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts.  To me it is being shown that I might know You, You are God; there is no other besides You.

Truthful - You always speak the truth.  Your Word is reality.

Faithful – You always do what You promise.  You are my God and I am Yours.  I want to know You.  I am asking You to let me know You.  Help me to understand You and Your ways.  Help me to be faithful to You.

Wrathful - You will destroy all unrighteousness.  When I act corruptly and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of You my God, so as to provoke You to anger, Your Son calls heaven and earth to witness against me today, that I shall surely perish quickly from the land where I am going over the Jordan to possess it.  I shall not live long on it, but shall be utterly destroyed.

Jealous – You are a consuming fire.  You will not share the sons of Israel who are rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.

Righteous – You always do the right thing.  You teach the right way.  Your statutes and judgments is the right way.

Incomprehensible – What does this mean?  What are You saying?  What are You telling me?  What is in my heart?  How do I do ALL of Your statutes and judgments which Jesus is teaching me to perform?  I am tired my LORD, very tired.  I am perishing.
