Deuteronomy Chapter 3
Omniscient – You know everything. You know what Moses is doing. You know why it goes back and forth and keeps repeating itself. You know it is confusing. You know what I am supposed to learn. You know what and who ‘I commanded you’ means. You know what is in my heart. You know me. You know the past and You now the future. You are all-knowing.
Omnipotent- You can do anything. You lead Your people. You have them go where You want them to. You deliver Og king of Bashan with all his people into Your people’s hand. You had Your people, the sons of Israel, take the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites. You show Moses the land the sons of Israel will possess. You make me understand if You just wanted to. You are all-powerful.
Omnipresent – You are everywhere. You are in the midst of the sons of Israel, everywhere they go. You remain with them in the valley opposite Beth-peor. You are here with me. You are in my heart. You are in Your WORD. You are all-present.
Eternal – You are the cause of time. You are at that time. You are to this day. You are forever and forever. You are now. You are time.
Immutable – You do not change. You delivered Og also, king of Bashan, with all his people into Israel’s hand, and they smote them until no survivor was left. The sons of Israel took possession of this land at that time. You shall do to all the kingdoms into which they are about to cross. The sons of Israel remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor. You will never be made to change.
Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself. You will exist even when Moses or the sons of Israel do not. It is Your creation who needs You in order to exist. You choose. You make up the sons of Israel’s existence. You make up the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-bribe of Manasseh. You make up Moses’ existence. You make up my existence and Your Word’s existence. You decide. You decide who lives and who dies. You destroyed Sihon king of Heshbon, destroying the men, women, and children of every city. You are sovereign.
Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose. You choose to use Moses and the sons of Israel, and the two kings of the Amorites, and me, who are rightly and morally Yours, because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.
Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion. You can do anything and go anywhere. You are limitless.
Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation. You teach me about You. You teach me again about Og king of Bashan, and how the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh possess that land. They shall cross over the Jordan and not to fear. Moses did not believe You and so You would not let him cross over with them. Moses keeps saying ‘I’. Why does that bother me so, My LORD? What does that mean? What am I supposed to learn? How does this relate to me? What am I supposed to do?
Sovereign – It is You the sons of Israel worship. You delivered Og king of Bashan and all his people and his land into the sons of Israel’s hand. You utterly destroyed them, as You did to Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city. You gave the land to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of Manasseh. You say. You commanded the sons of Israel. You are the one fighting for the sons of Israel. You lead me. You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!
Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being. You separate Moses and Joshua and the sons of Israel and me for Your purpose. Through You Word by Your truth.
Gracious – You show Your people Your favor by giving them possession of Bashan. You have Moses see the land from the top of Pisgah with his own eyes.
Merciful – You show Your compassion by leading them and helping them and having Moses lead them and commission Joshua.
Longsuffering - You are patient with Your people and slow to anger. You tell Moses ‘Enough! Speak to Me no more of this matter.’ Before You got angry with him.
Righteous – You are always right. You teach the right way. The land of Bashan is right
Just – You punish the guilty who is Og king of Bashan with all his people that came out to meet the sons of Israel in battle at Edrei You atone for sin utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city. You reward the righteous giving the land to Your people.
Loving – You You love the sons of Israel and take care them. You give them what they need.
Good – You give a part of Yourself to Your people to lead them and teach them about Yu and Your heavenly throne. You give Your commandments.
Wise – Your wisdom causes You to do the things You do. Your wisdom is higher than my wisdom. Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts.
Truthful - You always speak the truth. Do not fear Og king of Bashan, for You have delivered him and all his people and his land into Your people’s hand. You have Moses go to the top of Pisgah to see the land. You have him charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him. What You say is the reality.
Faithful – You always do what You promise. You delivered Og King of Bashan and Sihon king of the Amorites and gave the land to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, al the region of Argob. You are doing Your foreknown plan You promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Wrathful - You will destroy all unrighteousness. You utterly destroyed the kingdom of Og in Bashan, as Your people did to Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city.
Jealous – You will not share the sons of Israel who are rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.
Incomprehensible – Does vs. 6 sound proud? ‘And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city’. What is wrong with that? What about ‘Thou shall not murder’? Why My Lord?
Was it Og whose bestead was 13 ½ feet long and 6 feet wide? Was he 13 ½ feet tall? Why do You give me that information? Were the Rephaim all like that?
What attribute is ‘delivered’? Gracious, Omnipotent?
Who are the Amorites? Canaan is the father of the Amorites. Gen 9:25-27; 10:6
Israel is son of Shem.
Why is it important for me to know all of the different names of Hermon? Why is vs. 9, 10 & 11 in Your WORD? What am I supposed to learn?
Why are all of Your people going around and around in circles for centuries? Abraham passed through here when You promised it to him. Why here? Why not somewhere else? Jacob went to Jabbok. Now 600,000 some son of Israel because You have given them this land to possess it – in all the world. The world is Yours.
You say ‘You may know me’, ‘You may know there is no one like Me in all the earth’, You will fight for me? What is wrong with me My LORD? Why don’t I? Why can’t I? What is My heart? I feel tortured. I don’t know. I don’t know You. I don’t know Your WORD. I don’t understand. I can’t remember. I feel cursed My LORD. How do I change? How do I change my heart? I am sorry for letting You down My LORD.
