Leviticus Chapter 27
Omniscient – You know everything. You know the sons of Israel and their heart. You know me and You know my heart. You know my future. You know what I must learn, what I need to know. You know how to value a man. You know how to value sacrifices. You know how much I am worth. You are all-knowing.
Omnipotent- You can do anything. You can turn toward me and make me fruitful and multiply me and You will confirm Your covenant with me if You just want to. You, My LORD, will walk among me and be my God, and I shall be Your people OR You will plague me and destroy me. You are all-powerful.
Omnipresent – You are everywhere. You are in the midst of Israel. You are here with me. You are in my heart. You are everywhere. You are all-present.
Eternal – You are the cause of time. You are a month and years and centuries. You are twenty years and five years and sixty years. You are forever. You are time.
Immutable – You do not change. As the priest values a man’s house so it shall stand. If the man who consecrates his house should wish to redeem his house, then he shall add one-fifth of the valuation price to it, so that it may be his. The priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest value it, so it shall be. If the one who consecrates his field should ever with to redeem the field, then he shall add one-fifth of the valuation price to it, so that it may pass to him. You will never be made to change.
Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself. You do not need any of Your creation in order to exist. You will exist even when they do not, It is Your creation who needs You for their own existence. You make up the sons of Israel’s existences and the priest’s existence and Your WORD’s existence. You choose. You decide.
Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose. You choose to use the sons of Israel and me and Your WORD and Your commandments and Your covenant because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.
Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion. You are forever and ever. You make a perpetual statute with the sons of Israel. You make up all of Your commandments.
Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation. You teach the valuations and what is holy. Once I separate something for Your purpose it is holy and if I substitute something in its place then both are holy. Am I a priest? Or isn’t Jesus THE HIGH Priest? Doesn’t He do the valuations? The priest shall value him?
Priest – Gen 14:18; Ex 19:6; Lev 1:5; Lev 4:3; 2 Chr 15:3; Ps 110:4; Matt 2:4; Matt 8:4; Heb 2:17; Heb 4:14; Heb 5:6
And Melchizedek King of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.
…and I shall be to You a kingdom of priests and a holy nation? Is this talking about me? Am I part of the sons of Israel? But all of Israel were not priests were they? Only one family – The Levites were priests. Now only one family – Jesus Only One High Priest?
…And he shall slay the young bull before the LORD; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall offer up the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.
…if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD a bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed.
Heb 4:14; Heb 5:6-10 (cont. from above)
…And for many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law. The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, Thou art a priest forever according to the order o Melchizedek. This speaks only of Jesus.
…Jesus had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
High Priest – Heb 3:1; 6:20; 7:26, 28; 8:1, 3; 9:11; 10:21
Jesus the Son of God is my great high priest. Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
It is Jesus who sets my value. What is the value of a man? What is the value of Jesus compared to the value of Judas? Or compared to me? Or compared to Tony? I have less value because I am a woman.
Sovereign – You figure out the value. You consecrate what is holy. You commanded Moses for the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai. You command Jesus for me at Your heavenly Mount Sinai. You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!
Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being. You separate people and houses and fields, and animals and tithes of the land for Your purpose.
Gracious – You show the sons of Israel Your favor by giving Your commandments to teach them about You and Your heavenly throne.
Merciful – You show the sons of Israel Your compassion through Your commandments. You take care of Your people. You give them the ability to buy back their field or their house. You keep them from sinning against You.
Righteous – You are always right. You teach the sons of Israel Your right way.
Longsuffering – You are patient with the sons of Israel and slow to anger.
Just – You punish the guilty, cover the guilty, and reward the righteous.
Loving – You love the sons of Israel and take care of them. You give them what they need. They want to give You gifts so You allow things while keeping them from sinning against You.
Good – Your commandments are about You and Your heavenly throne. You command Jesus for me at Your heavenly Mount Sinai.
Wise – Your wisdom causes You to do things You do to give me important information about You.
Truthful – You always speak the truth. You have values according to a valuation of persons belonging to You. I will become a teacher. I have a value.
Faithful – You always do what You say. You do what You promised and You are doing what You promised.
9. Gen 17:6; 22:16; 48:4; Gen 17:7; 11. Ex 25:8; 29:45,46; Ezek 37:26;12. Gen 3:8; Deut 23:14; 2 Cor. 6:16; Ex 20:2; Ezek 34:27
9. “And I Jehovah will establish make you exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come forth from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”
…& said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares Jehovah the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son…”
“…and He said to me, ‘Behold, I Jehovah, will make you fruitful and numerous, and I will make you a company of peoples, and will five this land to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.’”
11. “And let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I Jehovah may dwell among them.” “And I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priest to Me. And I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God.” “And I will make a covenant of peace with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever.”
12. Gen 3:8; Deut 23:14; 2 Cor. 6:16; 13. Ex 20:2; Ezek 34:27
12. And they heard the sound of Jehovah God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah God among the trees of the garden. Since Jehovah my God walks in the midst of my camp to deliver me and to defeat my enemies before me, therefore my camp must be holy; and He must not see anything indecent among me lest He turn away from me.
I am the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I WILL SWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.”
13. I am Jehovah Your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery…
Also the tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure on their land. Then they will know that I am Jehovah, when I have broken he bars of their yoke and have delivered them from the hand of those who enslave them.
Wrathful – You will destroy all unrighteousness.
Jealous – You will not share what is rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.
Incomprehensible – What is my valuation? How much is thirty shekels? Why are females less value than males? How much am I worth?
Jesus values it as either good or bad. Jer 3:15 – Then I will give you sheperds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding. In v. 16, are you talking about Your Son, Jesus or me?
A field is worth 20 gerahs
First-born – priceless
Unclean animals = ?
Things become holy and the things substituted also becomes holy.
How does this relate to me? Am I holy? I don’t feel holy. Thank-you My LORD, for taking care of me. I love You and I so want to know You. Through Jesus Christ’s name and through His ransom sacrifice, Amen.
