Numbers Chapter 28

Omniscient – You know everything.  You know what each day’s matter on its own day means.  You know what to offer on the altar and why it matters.  You know Your holy Sabbath Day – a day of rest.  You know the priest shall offer all of it.  You know Your Feast of Unleavened Bread.  You know Your LORD’s Passover.  You know Your Feast of Weeks.  You know Your appointed times.  You know what this means.  You know my heart and my mind.  You know me.  You are all-knowing.

Omnipotent- You can do anything.  You do not need offerings.  You do not need food.  You can make me understand if You just wanted to.  You are all-powerful.

Omnipresent – You are everywhere.  You are in Mount Sinai.  You are in the mist of the sons of Israel.  You are here with me.  You are in my heart.  You are in Your Word.  You are all-present.

Eternal – You are the cause of time.  You are the appointed times.  You are one year and every day.  You are in the morning and at twilight.  You are the Sabbath day and at the beginning of each month.  You are the fourteenth day and the fifteenth day.  You are seven days and the seventh day.  You are the day of the first fruits.  You are now.  You are forever and ever.  You are time.

Immutable – You do not change.  You command the sons of Israel to be careful to present Your offering, Your food for Your offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to You, at their appointed time.  Now.  You will never be made to change.

Self – Existent – You exist by Yourself.  You will exist even when Your creation does not.  You choose.  You decide.  You make up Your offering, Your food for Your offerings by fire.  You make up Your appointed times.  You make up my existence.

Self-Sufficient – You do not need any of Your creation to bring about Your will or Your purpose.  You choose to use Your offerings and Your appointed times because it is Your good pleasure, not Your need, that governs Your choice.

Infinite – There are no limits or bounds to Your person or dominion.  There are no limits to the continual burnt offering and its grain offering and their libations.  You are without limits.

Transcendent – You are apart from Your creation.  You teach me about Your offerings and Your Sabbath day.  You teach me about the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the LORD’S Passover and the Feast of Weeks.  This information must be very important since this is the third time we’ve gone over this in depth.

Why?  Why is this the third time?  What does it mean?  How does it relate to me?  How do I apply it?

Sovereign – You have Your offering.  You have Your food for Your offering by fire.  You have Your appointed times.  You have Your continual burnt offering every day.  It is You the sons of Israel worship.  It is You I am trying to worship.  You are in complete control and You are doing Your foreknown plan!

Holy – You are a morally excellent, perfect being.  You sanctify/separate Your appointed times for Your purpose.  What is Your purpose for Your appointed times?

Gracious – You show the sons of Israel Your favor by leading them and by giving them Your feasts and rest.

Merciful – You show the sons of Israel Your compassion atoning their sins and not leaving them.  You keep them before You.

Longsuffering - You are patient with the sons of Israel and slow to anger.

Righteous – You are always right.  Your feasts and Your appointed times are the right way.

Just – You punish the guilty, atone sin, and reward the righteous.

Loving – You love the sons of Israel and You have a soothing aroma to You.

Good – You give Your Feasts and Your appointed times to reveal a part of Yourself in Your Feasts.

Wise – Your wisdom causes You to do the things You do.  Your wisdom is higher than my wisdom.  Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts.

Truthful - You always speak the truth.  The entire Word of God is Your truth, either directly, quotes, or indirectly.  You speak of Your feasts and Your rituals.  Your Word is reality.

Faithful – You always do what You promise.  You do what You say.  The sons of Israel are Your people doing Your work.  You are their God.  I am a person of Your people.  I am Your possession.  I have Your work.  I have a special responsibility to present Your offering, Your food for Your offerings by fire.  You are My God and I am Your people.  You write Your laws on my heart and into my mind.  You lead me.  You do what You say.

Wrathful - You will destroy all unrighteousness.

Jealous – You will not share the sons of Israel or Your appointed times or me who are rightly and morally Yours with any other creature.

Incomprehensible – Does the sheperd sacrifice the seep?  Two male lams every day?  What about ‘Tend My Lambs?  What am I asking My LORD?  How might I become the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ?  How am I an ambassador of Christ?  Mal 2:7; Eph 6:20; 2 Cor 6:1; Rom 5:10; Col 1:20; Rom 1:17; 3:21; 1 Cor. 1:30

Because You love me?  Am I worth so much trouble My LORD?  Is love an offering?  That is why I am asking My LORD.  Am I a priest?  Training to become a priest?  A nation of priest?  What do I offer You/  Two male lambs?  Do I preserve knowledge?  How can I ever give instruction from my mouth?  Am I?  Or will I ever be Your messenger, can I be?  I am only on Numbers 28 and still do not understand.  How can I change?  How can I ever be worthy?  Am I an offering to You?  You give me to Your Levites?  But I am female and with many defects.  Aren’t I too much work?  Ambassador –

2 Cor 5:20; Philem 9

What does this mean?  How does it relate to me?  What am I supposed to learn?  What does this say about You, My LORD?

Food – Gen 1:29; Gen 3:6; Ruth 1:6; Ps 42:5; Prov 23:3; Matt 3:4; Matt 6:25; John 4:34; John 6:55; 1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12; 1 Pet 2:2; John 16:12

·       Visited His people in giving them food – Ex 4:31; Jer 29:10; Zeph 2:7; Ps 132:15; Matt 6:11

·       FOOD IS THE WORD?  Jer 24:6,7

·       “For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land; and I will build them up and not overthrow them and I will plant them and not pluck them up.  And I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the LORD; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.”

·       Give us this day our daily bread – Prov 30:8; Is 33:16; Luke 11:3

·       My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish His work. – John 5:30; 6:38; John 5:36; 17:4; 19:28, 30

·       “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.”

Sacrifices/Offerings to do the will of Jehovah God and to accomplish Your work.

Is my studying and trying to understand, offerings to You?  Grain offerings?  Sin offerings?  Prayers are offerings?  How can prayers be food to You?  How can my studying so very hard and searching for You be of any importance?

Know (experience, understand)

Seek (pursue, search for) – Prov 8:17; Matt 7:7

·       I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me.  If I see You My LORD, I will find You.

Gen 3:22; Ex 18:16; Job 19:25; Ps 25:4; Ps 44:21; Ps 46:10; Ps 98:2; Ps 139:23; Jer 12:3; Matt 6:3; Matt 7:20; Matt 7:23; Luke 16:15; John 8:32; John 10:14; John 13:1; John 21:15; 1 Cor 13:2; 2 Cor 5:21; Eph 3:19; Phil 3:8; 2 Tim 1:12; 1 John 5:13; Rev 2:2

I seek the knowledge of God.  My food but what is God’s food?  What do You need food for?

Two male lambs?  You don’t eat but give to the Levites for food.  What are two male lambs?  Two Jesus’?  But only one for all time.  What does ‘It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai’ mean?  I this what the angels present for Your offering by fire?  Why do You say it over and over again?   What does this mean?  What is Your food for Your offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to You at their appointed times?

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  That I may remain in Your house forever.  I am of God.  John 8:47

       What is Your food?
