Dear Jehovah God,
כגוְעַתָּ֗ה הִשָּׁ֨בְעָה לִּ֤י בֵֽאלֹהִים֙ הֵ֔נָּה אִם־תִּשְׁקֹ֣ר לִ֔י וּלְנִינִ֖י וּלְנֶכְדִּ֑י כַּחֶ֜סֶד אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֤יתִי עִמְּךָ֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה עִמָּדִ֔י וְעִם־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־גַּ֥רְתָּה בָּֽהּ:
“’And now, swear to me here by God, that you will not lie to me or to my son or to my grandson; according to the kindness that I have done with you, you shall do with me, and with the land wherein you have sojourned.’"
Isaiah 22:2 – city forsaken
We who are full of noise, our boisterous town, our exultant city; our slain are not slain with the sword, nor do they die in battle.
Isaiah 23:7; 32:13 – exultant city
Is this our jubilant city, whose origin is from antiquity, whose feet used to carry her to colonize distant places?
For the land of my people in which thorns and briars come up; yea, for all the joyful houses and for the jubilant city.
Jeremiah 14:18; Lamentations 2:20 – not slain
If I go out to the country, behold, those slain with the sword! Or if I enter the city, behold, diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest go roving about in the land that they do not know.
See, O Jehovah, and look! With whom do You deal thus? Do women eat their offspring, the little ones who are born healthy? Are priest and prophet slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
Intention of this prayer: exultant city, and not slain.
YFA who are full of noise, YFA’ boisterous town, YFA’ exultant city; YFA’ slain are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle. Is this YFA’ jubilant, whose origin is from antiquity, whose feet used to carry her to sojourn afar off? For the land of YWYS’ people, thorns, briars come up; yea, for all the joyful houses, the jubilant city.
If YWYS goes out to the country, behold, those pierced with the sword! Or if He enters the city, behold, diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest go around trading in the land that they do not know. See, O Jehovah, and look! With whom do You deal thus? Do women eat their fruit, the little ones who tenderly cared for? Are priest and prophet slain in the sanctuary of the Lord, YWYS?
You are Transcendent. I am Your witness, Jehovah, and Your servant who You have chosen, so that I may know and believe You and understand that You are He. Before You there is no God formed, and there is none after You. For Your thoughts are not my thoughts, nor are my ways Your ways, Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are Your ways higher than my ways and Your thoughts than my thoughts. You, Jehovah God, are above Your creation, and You would exist if there were no creation. Your existence is totally apart from Your creatures and creation.
You are Good. In unison the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify You Jehovah, and they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and they praised You Jehovah. You indeed are good for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. Praise You Jehovah! Hallelujah! Oh give thanks to You Jehovah, for You are good; for Your lovingkindess is everlasting. In Your goodness You give to others, not according to what they deserve but according to Your good will and kindness toward them.
You are Jehovah God, Jehovah the One and Only!
