Dear Jehovah God,
כבוַֽיְהִי֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ וּפִיכֹל֙ שַׂר־צְבָא֔וֹ אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר אֱלֹהִ֣ים עִמְּךָ֔ בְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֖ה עֹשֶֽׂה:
“Now it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol his general said to Abraham, saying, ‘God is with you in all that you do.’”
You God Jehovah are with Abraham and me in all that we do.
Isaiah 6:11 – city forsaken
Then I said that Lord, how long? And He answers that until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, houses are without people and the land is utterly desolate.
Psalm 79:5 – how long
How long, O Jehovah? Are You angry forever? Does Your jealousy burn like fire?
Leviticus 26:31; Isaiah 1:7, 3:8, 26 – cities
You lay waste our cities as well and make our sanctuaries desolate, and You do not smell our soothing aromas.
Our land is desolate, our cities burn with fire, our fields – strangers are devouring them in our presence; it is desolation, as overthrown by strangers.
For Jerusalem stumbles and Judah falls, because their speech and their actions are against You Jehovah, to rebel against Your glorious presence.
And her gates lament and mourn, and deserted she sits on the ground.
Intention of this prayer: how long, and cities.
Then YWYS says that Lord Jehovah, how long? And You answer that until cities are devastated, without inhabitant, houses are without people and the land is utterly desolate. How long, O Jehovah? Are You angry forever? Does Your jealousy burn like fire?
You give desolation to YFA’ cities as well and make YFA’ sanctuaries desolate, and You do not smell YFA’ soothing aromas. YFA’ land is desolate, YFA’ cities burn with fire, YFA’ fields – strangers are devouring them in YFA’ presence; it is desolation, as overthrown by strangers. For Jerusalem stumbles and Judah, Your Remnant, falls, because their tongue and their actions are against You Jehovah, to rebel against the eyes of Your glory. And her entrances lament and mourn, and deserted she sits on the ground.
You are Omnipotent. You, Jehovah, give the horse his might. You clothe his neck with a man. You make him leap like the locust. His majestic snorting is terrible. He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength; he laughs at fear and is not dismayed; and he does not turn back from the sword. The quiver rattles against him, the flashing spear and javelin. With shaking and rage he races over the ground, and he does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet. As often as the trumpet sounds he says, “Aha! And he scents the battle from afar, and the thunder of the captains and the war cry. I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. By the WORD of Your Jehovah the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear You Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of You. You, Jehovah God, possess all power.
You are Gracious. You Jehovah, Jehovah God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet You will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations. For if I return to You Jehovah, my brothers and my sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return this land. For You Jehovah my God are gracious and compassionate, and will not turn Your face away from me if I return to You. The Child, YWYS, continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God Jehovah was upon Him. Your grace is sufficient for me, for power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ, YWYS, may dwell in me. You Jehovah God are a God of grace and always operates on the basis of Your graciousness.
You are Jehovah God, Jehovah the One and Only!
