Hosea 8:11

2/13/11

Dear Jehovah God,

“But where are your gods which you made for yourself?  Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble; for according to the numbers of your cities are your gods, O Judah.”

Since Ephraim has multiplied altars for sin, they have become altars of sinning for him.

Is there iniquity in Gilead?  Surely they are worthless.  In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls, yes, their altars are like the stone heaps beside the furrows of the field.

I know You are Jealous Jehovah my God.  We look for other gods we made for ourselves that are not You.  We are worthless grapes on your vine in Your vineyard.  We look to other gods to arise, according to the number of our cities are our gods.  Who are my gods that take away the worship of you?  Who do I look to that is not You?  What have I made for myself that is not You?  I am sorry that I have made gods which I made for myself.  Why do I do that?  I am sorry that I look to them to arise, if they can save me in the time of my trouble; for according to the number of my cities are my gods.  I do not know how to stop.  I am sorry for doing that to You.  I am sorry for hurting You.

Since I have multiplied altars for sin, they have become altars of sinning for me.  I am sorry for my altars of sinning.  How do I break these altars of sin?  What are they?

I know there is iniquity in Gilead.  I am sorry they are worthless.  I am sorry that in Gilgal they sacrifice bulls, yes, our altars are like the stone heaps beside the furrows of the field.  I am sorry.  I do not know what to do.  I feel guilty.  I am guilty.  I am sorry, I do not know who to stop.

For we also built for ourselves high places and sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and beneath every luxuriant tree.

For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or household idols.

I am sorry that I have built for myself high places and sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and beneath every luxuriant tree.  I am just like that.  I know I will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or household idols.  I am sorry You have to do that.  I know it hurts You.  I am sorry that You have to hurt Yourself because of me.  You do not deserve it, any of it, You are too god for any of it.  You should not be here!  I feel bad for You.  I want to help You, comfort You, I want to change for You so that I stop hurting You!  I love You and I feel sorry for You.  If eel awful!  Amen, Amen, & Amen.
