Dear Jehovah God,
יגוְגַ֥ם אֶת־בֶּן־הָֽאָמָ֖ה לְג֣וֹי אֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ כִּ֥י זַרְעֲךָ֖ הֽוּא:
“But also the son of the handmaid I will make into a nation, because he is your seed."
But also the son of the handmaid You make into a nation, because he is her seed.
Isaiah 32:13
For the land of my people in which thorns and briars come up; yea, for all the joyful houses and for the jubilant city.
Isaiah 5:6 – for the land
You lay it waste; it is not pruned or hoed, but briars and thorns come up. You also charge the clouds to rain no rain on it.
2 Chronicles 36:19-21; Isaiah 7:19-25; 24:1, 3; Jeremiah 25:11 – lay it waste
Then they burn the house of God and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and burn all its fortified buildings with fire and destroy all its valuable articles. Those who escape from the sword he carries away to Babylon; and they are servants to him and to his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia, to fulfill the word of You Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land enjoys is sabbaths. All the days of its desolation it keeps sabbath until seventy years are complete.
They all come and settle on the steep ravines, on the ledges of the cliffs, on all the horn bushes and on all the watering places.
In this day the Lord shaves with a razor, hired from regions beyond the Euphrates (that is, with the king of Assyria), the head of the hair of the legs; and it also removes the beard.
Now in this day a man may keep alive heifer and a pair of sheep; and because of the abundance of the milk produces he eats curds, for everyone that is left within the land eats curds and honey.
And it comes about in this day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, becomes briars and thorns. As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the hoe, we do not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they become a place for pasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.
Behold, You Jehovah lay the earth waste, devastate it, distort its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
The earth is completely laid waste and completely despoiled, for You Jehovah speak this word.
This whole land is a desolation and a horror, and these nations serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
1 Kings 8:35; 17:1; Jeremiah 14:1-22 – rain no rain on it
When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they sin against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name and turn from their sin when You afflict them.
Now Elijah the Tishbite, who is of the settlers of Gilead, says to Ahab that as You Jehovah, the God of Israel live, before whom he stands, surely there is neither dew nor rain these years, except by his word.
That which comes as the WORD of You Jehovah to Jeremiah in regards to the drought: Judah mourns and her gates languish; they sit on the ground in mourning, and the cry of Jerusalem ascends. Their nobles send their servants for water; they come to the cisterns and find no water. They return with their vessels empty; they are put to shame and humiliated, and they cover their heads. Because the ground is cracked, for there is no rain on the land; the farmers are put to shame, they cover their heads. For even the doe in the field gives birth only to abandon her young, because there is no grass. The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; they pant for air like jackals, their eyes fail for there is no vegetation. Although our iniquities testify against us, O Jehovah, act for Your name’s sake! Truly our apostasies are many, we sin against You. O Hope of Israel, its Savior in time of distress, why are You like a stranger in the land or like a traveler who pitches his tent for the night? Why are You like a man dismayed, like a mighty man who cannot save? Yet You are in our midst, O Jehovah, and we are called by Your name; do not forsake us!
Thus says You Jehovah to this people that even so they love to wander; they do not keep their feet in check. Therefore You Jehovah do not accept them; now You remember their iniquity and call their sins to account. So You Jehovah say to me to do not pray for the welfare of this people. When they fast, You are not going to listen to their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, You are not going to accept them. Rather You are going to make an end of them by the sword, famine and pestilence.
But that ah, Lord God Jehovah! I say to look, the prophets are telling them that we do not see the sword nor do we have famine, but You give us lasting peace in this place. Then You Jehovah say to me that the prophets are prophesying falsehood in Your name. You neither send them nor command them nor speak to them; they are prophesying to us a false vision, divination, futility and the deception their own minds. Therefore thus says You Jehovah concerning the prophets who are prophesying in Your name, although it is not You who sends them – yet they keep saying that there is no sword or famine in this land – by sword and famine those prophets meet their end! The people also to whom they are prophesying are thron out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and thw sword; and there is no one to bury them – neither them, nor their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters – for You pour out their own wickedness on them. We say this word to them to let my eyes flow down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people are crushed with a mighty blow, with a sorely infected wound. If I go out to the country, behold those slain with the sword! Or if I enter th city, behold, diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest go roving about in the land that they do not know.
Do You completely reject Judah? Or do You loathe Zion? Why do You strike us so that we are beyond healing? We wait for peace, but nothing good comes; and for a time of healing, but behold, terror! We know our wickedness, O Jehovah, the iniquity of our fathers, for we sin against You. Do not despise us, for Your own name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of Your glory; remember and do not annul Your covenant with us. Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not You, O Jehovah our God? Therefore we hope in You, for Your are the one who does all these things.
Intention of this prayer: remove its hedge, bread down its wall, trampled ground lay it waste, and rain no rain on it.
You lay it waste; not pruned or hoed, but briars and thorns come up. You also charge the clouds to rain no rain on it.
Then they burn the house of You God Jehovah and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and burn all its fortified buildings with fire and destroy all its valuable articles. Those who escape from the sword he carries away to Babylon, false religion; and they are servants to him and to his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia, to fulfill the word of You Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land enjoys is sabbaths. All the days of its desolation it keeps sabbath to fulfill seventy years.
They all come and settle on the steep wadis, on the ledges of the cliffs, on all the horn bushes and on all the pastures.
In this day the Lord, YWYS, shaves with a razor, hired from regions beyond the River Euphrates, with the king of Assyria, Satan, the head of the hair of the legs; and it also removes the beard.
Now in this day a man may keep alive heifer and a pair of sheep; and because of the abundance of the milk produces he eats curds, for everyone left within the land eats curds and honey.
And it comes about in this day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, at a thousand of silver, becomes briars and thorns. As for all the hills which used to cultivate with the hoe, YFA do not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they become a place for sending oxen and for sheep to trample.
Behold, You Jehovah lay the earth waste, devastate it, distort its surface and scatter its inhabitants. The earth is completely laid waste and completely despoiled, for You Jehovah speak this word, YWYS. This whole land is a desolation and a horror, and these nations serve the king of Babylon, false religion, seventy years.
When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they sin against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name and turn from their sin when You afflict them. Now Elijah the Tishbite, YWYS, who is of the settlers of Gilead, says to Ahab that as You Jehovah, You God Jehovah of Israel, of both humans and angels, live, before whom He stands, surely there is neither dew nor rain these years, except by His word.
That which comes as the WORD, YWYS, of You Jehovah to Jeremiah in regards to the drought: Judah, Your Remnant, mourns and her gates languish; they sit on the ground in mourning, and the cry of Jerusalem ascends. Their nobles send their little ones for water; they come to the cisterns and find no water. They return with their vessels empty; they are shamed and humiliated, and they cover their heads. Because the ground shatters, for there is no rain on the land; the farmers are shamed, they cover their heads. For even the doe in the field gives birth only to abandon, because there is no grass. The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail for there is no vegetation. Although YFA’ iniquities testify against YFA, O Jehovah, act for Your name’s sake! Truly YFA’ apostasies are many, YFA sin against You. O Hope of Israel, both humans and angels, its Savior in time of distress, why are You like a stranger in the land or like a traveler who pitches for the night? Why are You like a man dismayed, like a mighty man who cannot save? Yet You are in YFA’ midst, O Jehovah, and YFA called by Your name; do not forsake YFA!
Thus, says You Jehovah to this people that even so they love to wander; they do not keep their feet in check. Therefore, You Jehovah do not accept them; now You remember their iniquity and call their sins to account. So, You Jehovah say to YWYS to do not pray for the welfare of this people. When they fast, You are not going to listen to their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, You are not going to accept them. Rather You are going to make an end of them by the sword, famine and pestilence.
But that ah, Lord God Jehovah! YWYS says to look, the prophets are telling them that YFA do not see the sword nor do YFA have famine, but You give YFA peace of truth in this place. Then You Jehovah say to Him that the prophets are prophesying falsehood in Your name. You neither send them nor command them nor speak to them; they are prophesying to YFA a false vision, divination, futility and the deception their own hearts. Concerning the prophets who are prophesying in Your name, Jehovah, although it is not You who send them – yet they keep saying that there is no sword or famine in this land – by sword and famine those prophets finish! The people also to whom they are prophesying thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and there is no one to bury them – them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters – for You pour out their wickedness on them. YFA say this word to them to let YWYS’ eyes flow down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of His people crushed with a mighty blow, with a sorely infected wound. If He goes out to the country, behold those pierced with the sword! Or if He enters the city, behold, diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest go around trading in the land that they do not know.
Do You completely reject Judah, Your Remnant? Or does Your soul loathe Zion? Why do You strike YFA so that YFA are beyond healing? Wait for peace, but nothing good; and for a time of healing, but behold, terror! YFA know YFA’ wickedness, O Jehovah, the iniquity of YFA’ fathers, for YFA sin against You. Do not despise, for Your own name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of Your glory; remember, do not annul Your covenant with YFA. Are there any among the vanities of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not You, O Jehovah YFA’ God? Therefore, YFA wait for You, for You are the one who does all these things.
You are Immutable. Of old You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. Even they will perish, but You endure; and all of them will war out like a garment; like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end. For You, Jehovah, do not change; therefore we are not consumed. Jesus Christ, YWYS, is the same yesterday and today and forever. You Jehovah God are always the same in Your nature, Your character, and Your will and You never change and You can never be made to change.
You are Longsuffering. You Jehovah are slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but You will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations. The Lord, YWYS, is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward us, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. You, Jehovah God, are patient. Your righteous anger is slow to be kindled against those who fail to listen to Your warnings or obey Your instructions. Your eternal longing for the highest good for Your creation holds back Your justice.
You are Jehovah God, Jehovah the One and Only!
שמע ישראל יהוה אלהנו יהוה אחד:
אמו. Amen, Amen, & Amen.
