Hosea 7:3

12/21/10

Dear Jehovah God,

With our wickedness we make the king glad, and the princes with our lies.  And although we know the ordinance of You, that we who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Therefore what benefit was I then driving from the things of which I am now ashamed?  For the outcome of those things is death.

Consequently, we are witnesses and approve the deeds of my fathers; because it was us who killed them, and we build their tombs.

And Saul was in hearty agreement with putting Stephen to death.  And on that day a great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was being shed, I also was standing by approving, and watching out for the cloaks of those who were slaying him.

Now it came about in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was form Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Jehovah in the presence of the priests and all the people, saying, “Thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.  Within two years I am going to bring back to this place all the vessels of Jehovah’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.  I am also going to bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying…

That which came as the word of You to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying…

With our wickedness we make the king glad.  With my wickedness I make the king glad.  And although I know the ordinances of You, I still practice such things that are worthy of death.  I not only dot the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.  And I am sorry.  I don’t want to, but I can’t help myself.  Every intention of my heart is evil all of the time.  I run to wickedness.  I don’t know how to do the right thing.

Therefore what benefit am I for having my dreams, daydreams, fantasies?  All of this, every moment I am just deriving from these things of which I am now ashamed.  Lies, all lies, false, misleading.  For the outcome of these things is death.  And I don’t know how to stop.  I am so sorry.  Amen, Amen, and Amen.
